I prayed for this

Prayed for 7 times.

On behalf of Evening Daily Prayers Group

The heavens are telling the glory of God: and the firmament proclaims his handiwork (Ps 19: 1)

The continual flow of information, and lack of information, surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic seems to fill all of our thinking. The restrictions on our freedom to move around and to meet with friends and family seem without end. We continue to pray for your guidance and loving support for all of your people as together we feel our way to a new and safer time. We pray that when that time arrives that you, Lord Jesus, will declare our collective endeavours to be good, just and fair.

There are many other challenges at this time, which would normally receive more attention. We ask that you continually remind us that we should be doing your will in rising to those challenges.

We read that the economic costs of both Brexit and a possible break up of our United Kingdom could be hugely damaging. As usual, the greatest impact will fall on those least able to carry the burden. We pray that you will guide our political leaders as they plan and make decisions that will affect us all, and that they will set aside the demands of the few and ensure that the needs of everyone are satisfied fairly and equitably.

The review of biodiversity loss by Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta shows very clearly the impact of our inadequate care for your generous creation. The rate of global ice loss is accelerating. And yet, Lord Jesus, we know that as individuals we cannot solve these huge challenges. Guide us in making our choices so that we can contribute to the global efforts to restore your creation to its full splendour and glory that you, Lord God, declared to be good. We know that we are commanded to care for your creation, it is not an option for us. Please guide us, even in these difficult times, to consider your generous creation every day as we try to avoid contributing to waste, pollution and destruction.

You visit the earth and water it, you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide the people with grain, for so you have prepared it. (Ps 65: 9)

Lord Jesus, rest with us this night and bring us peace after the long day.

Amen
