It’s our 125th Birthday!

As we mark a big milestone of God’s care and provision for Emmanuel church, we are excited to be planning our first weekend together for several years, which will take place on Sat 22-Sun 23 June.
The theme is ‘Enjoying God and enjoying one another’.
Our day together on Saturday will be based in the Kent countryside. We will spend time relaxing, chatting, eating, playing games, worshipping, and making the most of the space and beautiful surroundings.
On Sunday we will be based at church for an all-together service celebrating who we are as the people of God, followed by a picnic lunch in Lloyd Park.
Our prayer is that this event will be an opportunity to re-kindle old friendships, make new ones, and most importantly, help us to remember the wonderful privilege that we have as believers of living together as God’s family.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect on the day?

Have a look at our booking page for a full programme of activities for the day. There’s also loads to do onsite at any time. So, do bring footballs / frisbees / rounders bats / boules etc.

Who is this day for?

This day is for everyone. We have organised activities and space for people of all kinds and types and we hope everyone will find something to enjoy and a place to relax and connect with others. You don’t have to be super energetic, although if you are, we’ll rise to the challenge.

Can I bring friends?

Yes! They are unconditionally welcome!

Do I need to bring seating and tables?

There will be seating provided. If you have a lightweight chair or a picnic rug you might find it helpful to bring them. There are tables provided.

Will there be shelter?

Yes. There is a covered seating area on site. In the field there will also be a number of gazebos available.

What happens if it rains?

A little rain won’t spoil our day but as with many summer events, seriously adverse weather will mean we cannot use the venue. In that case we will relocate to the church site. We will be following the weather forecast carefully in advance and keep you informed of any changes in plan.

Can I bring my dog?

Sorry to say – no. There are farm animals on site and we have been asked not to bring dogs.

Will there be loos?

Yes there will be, including baby changing / disabled facilities

How do I get there?

The venue is called Hamptons Farm. If you are taking your car, the postcode is TN11 9SR. It should take about 50 minutes from South Croydon. There will be ample parking. If you need transport to the venue you can book a place on one of the minibuses when you buy your ticket. Minibuses will leave at 9.30am and leave the venue at 7pm. Please book this in good time to avoid disappointment. Alternatively why not consider a car share?

Is there parking?

There is ample parking for cars in close proximity to the main meeting point.

When does it start and finish?

The programme runs from 10.30am until 7pm. The focus of the day is our gathering at 4.30 and supper afterwards. Please come for as much or as little of the day as you feel able to.

Can I contribute to what’s going on in the programme?

We love the thought! There’s lots on already but if you’d like to get involved helping in some way we’d love to hear from you.

Can I camp?

Just to be clear – this is not a camping holiday (!) but there is space for anyone who would like to to spend the night under canvas in the field. Please let us know in the notes when you book.

Will there be food and drink?

Yes – there will be lots to eat and drink. Your ticket includes morning coffee and cake, a cold lunch, afternoon tea, and supper which is provided by external caterers. Vegan and gluten-free options will be provided. Running water is available, so do bring (full) water bottles, which can be refilled throughout the day.

Is the site accessible?

There is vehicle access to within 50 metres of the main meeting point. There will be accessible toilets available. The site is based in a grass field which is uneven in places so we have chosen good spots for our Cafe, chill-out zone, and craft to be based accordingly. If you have further specific questions don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Are we talking about Saturday or Sunday?

Tickets for RE:connect are for the day at Hamptons Farm on Saturday. The above FAQ all refer to the Saturday. But the fun doesn’t stop there! On Sunday 23rd June we will have an all-age celebration together in church at 10am with a birthday cake celebrating our 125th anniversary. Afterwards we’ll head out to Lloyd Park for a picnic lunch. We’d love to see you on Sunday too.

How can I pray for the day?

What a great question! Please commit all the practicalities to the Lord – there’s lots to organise. Even more importantly please pray that we would indeed find opportunity to connect with one another and with God as we meet. Also, pray for good weather.
