What is Thy Kingdom Come?
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to “light up the world in prayer” and to join a “wave of prayer” for more people to come to know Jesus.
It spans the 11-day period from Ascension Day to Pentecost, a time when the Church traditionally focuses on prayer and reflection.
It started in 2016, with the Archbishops of Canterbury and York calling the CofE churches to pray. It has now grown amazingly to run in 172 countries and across 85 different denominations and faith groups. And here at Emmanuel we are excited to be part of this prayer movement.
This year, Thy Kingdom Come continues to encourage individuals, families, and churches to engage in prayer and activities that foster spiritual growth and community outreach. The movement emphasizes the importance of prayer in transforming lives and communities, and it provides various resources to support participants in their spiritual journey.
How can I get involved?
The 11 days of TKC are about us growing more in prayer. The activities listed below are specific to TKC and may be helpful. Other ideas are in our website prayer resources section, link here. https://www.emmanuelcroydon.org.uk/prayertoolbox/
More details on the TKC activities
Pray for 5:
This is the key focus of TKC. Everyone is invited to prayerfully choose 5 people to pray for each day. This may be friends, family, colleagues, neighbours, people you meet in the playground / gym / dog walking etc. It could be people you know very well or people with who you have never had a chance to share your faith. Anyone!
Pray for each of them every day that they will come to hear about Jesus, to respond and to choose to follow Him.
Use a Prayer journal:
Each day someone provides a reflection on one of the lines of the Lord’s prayer. We are then encouraged to pray this for our 5.
We have some copies in church. Collect one on Sunday, first come first served, or you can download a copy here!
Daily Prayer:
Each day TKC send emails / videos to help focus our prayers and reflect on specific themes. You can download the TKC App or sign up here https://www.thykingdomcome.global/new-2025#show-block-omega-bigbluedoor-main-menu
Family Activities:
Involve your family in prayer and activities. Create a prayer journal together, set up a family prayer time, or engage in creative activities like making prayer crafts or writing prayers for each other.
Go on a Prayer Walk:
Thy Kingdom Come Here has invited us to join other Christians in London to pray for every road within the M25.
A prayer walk would involve you walking down a local road being observant and attentive to their surroundings, praying for specific needs and blessings for the community. This can include praying for schools, businesses, homes, and public spaces, asking for God’s presence and guidance in each area. The goal is to bring a sense of spiritual awareness and intercession to the community, fostering a deeper connection with God and a greater sense of purpose in the participants’ lives.

Create a Prayer Space at home:
Set up a dedicated space in your home for prayer and reflection. This can be a quiet corner with a comfortable chair, a candle, and some inspirational materials to help you focus.
Engage in Acts of Kindness: Look for opportunities to show kindness and love to others. This could be as simple as helping a neighbour, volunteering at a local charity, or reaching out to someone in need.
Share Your Prayer Journey:
We would love to hear your experiences, prayers, and reflections during Thy Kingdom Come. This can inspire others to join in and create a sense of community and shared purpose. Send any updates to me and I will add them to our pillar displays.
