'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls'

Heavenly Father, we thank you that to date over 12 million people have received their first Corona virus vaccination. Although there are ambiguities around protection for some mutated viruses, we thank you that this is still good news, and that hospital admissions and deaths are decreasing. Help us, your body, to stay close to you, so that we can offer hope and love to those around us. Prompt each one of us to be creatively proactive in reaching out to others.

Heavenly Father, our hearts go out to those in North India after a glacier collapsed into a river, further collapsing a dam and triggering huge floods. We are filled with grief as the numbers continue to rise, at present 26 dead and 165 missing. Father we lift up the rescue operation to you. We pray that those on the rescue mission will be guided by your spirit and find people trapped underneath the mud and debris. For those that have lost family, homes and livelihoods, we ask that you, God of comfort, will draw near. Mobilise the church to be your very present body in this area to offer support in whatever way is needed.

And finally Father we thank you that throughout lockdown, one of the joys we have is that we are able to appreciate the marvel of your creation. Lord, your creation is vibrant, complicated, awe-inspiring and wonderfully connected. Its complexity and grandeur reflect your very being. Lord teach us more about you as we ponder your creation as the Psalmist did.

And finally Father, we thank you that as you take care of all the intricacies in all your creation, you also take care of us with the same precision and compassion. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for loving us.

AMEN.
