As part of the work of Emmanuel in the wider community, Emmanuel Youth Team are involved in mentoring, Christian Unions and lessons in local schools.
Mike and Fiona regularly go into Archbishop Tenison’s C of E High School, where Mike is the Assistant Chaplain. The focus of the work there is to provide support for the students of the school. This is done in many ways. At the start of the year we meet with every member of year 7 to get to know them and give space for them to raise any issues that we may be able to support them with. We also offer one to one mentoring for students that teachers or parents may feel would benefit from some extra support and someone to listen. We regularly attend the Sixth Form Christian Union and meet with its Sixth Form leaders to support them as they develop as young leaders. Throughout the year we are involved in a variety of school activities such as retreat afternoons, that we run here at Emmanuel, and trips.
Work in other schools includes delivering lessons on Eucharist and involvement in the assemblies and lessons that the Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation provides.
