Messy Church is a monthly service with a difference for 3 to 11 year olds and their parents and carers. The idea behind it is that it’s something for young families to do together, so mums, dads, grandparents, babies, big brothers and sisters are all welcome too!
Messy Church includes many of the things that are in our other Emmanuel services – Bible stories, prayer activities and singing. But as the name suggests, it also includes a lot more!
Messy Church happens monthly on Monday afternoons from 3.30-5.30pm. It starts at 3.30pm in the Emmanuel Centre with ‘Messy Time’ – loads of different crafts, games and activities for children to do with their parents. From September, we will be having a new Year 5/6 Zone in room F5 in the Centre with Mike. So if you don’t fancy getting actually messy, come along and hang out, have fun with your Messy community instead.
Then at 4.30pm we head across the road to the church to sing, shout, jump up and down, listen, learn, laugh and generally have a good time. By 5pm tummies are rumbling so the children go back to the Centre and all tuck into a hot meal. After that, all that’s left to do is collect your fantastic craft creations, and take your grinning, sticky-fingered children home!
You don’t need to know anything about church to come; you just need to be prepared to join in. There is a small fee of £1/child towards the cost of the meal.
Messy Church will be held on 10th September / 8th October / 12th November. The Christmas special will be on Saturday 8th December starting at 11am.
