The New Hall Building
Emmanuel has been granted planning permission to extend the current Church Hall, transforming the tired and run-down buildings we have today to a functional and fit for purpose facility that can be used by all age groups and age ranges.
These new facilities will enable us to have a café lounge area, cater for large celebrations, and be a great place for our community and friends to have fun, relax and work in.
We can’t wait!!
The new development will provide:
An increase in space –from 540sqm to 850sqm approx.
A new second entrance on Normanton Road, facing the church, providing a visual and more direct link between the two.
5 additional multi-purpose rooms, more than doubling the existing number.
Vastly improved access for disabled people, with a new platform lift and a new disabled WC on both floors
An enlarged central kitchen, 10 toilets and 2 showers
New low pitch zinc roofs, with a long lifespan and superior performance
Significantly increased storage space.
Energy efficiency will be significantly improved with new high performance external walls and windows
Solar photovoltaic panels on the roof will provide renewable energy, and rainwater harvesting reducing the ecological footprint.
How can I be part of it?
Since the last week of April when we launched the project a great deal of work has been going on behind the scenes and we have so much to celebrate.
Only eight weeks ago we launched our appeal for pledges, and promises of £1.057m have already been received as one-off gifts or monthly giving. With Gift Aid and existing funds the development fund now stands at £1.530m. We are now about £700,000 away from our giving target. Loans of £372,000 have also been pledged to help cash flow.
Everyone is invited to join us to celebrate God's goodness to us, to demonstrate how we live in community with each other, to enable the rebuild of our hall.
You can pledge money in the following ways:
- Everyday giving to Emmanuel
- Additional giving for our building development
- Lending capital interest-free which will be repaid by giving over 5 years

Please continue to pray for all ministry and work at Emmanuel. Give thanks for the amazing response and support for the project. Pray that the funding gap closes.
On Sept 5th 2016 the PCC are making the decision - whether or not to proceed to the tender stage and closure of the Hall for two terms next year. We need your prayers as we carefully consider this next step.
After the September decision is made the PCC expect to progress fund raising ideas that will enable the wider community at Emmanuel to join in. The hall project is for everyone - thank you for being a blessing!
