Persecuted Christians
The Emmanuel Persecuted Christians Prayer Group meets every 2nd Monday and 4th Thursday of each month, from 12 noon – 1pm, to learn about and pray for Christians who are being persecuted because they refuse to deny Christ .
According to the World Evangelical Alliance, over 200 million Christians in at least 60 countries are denied fundamental human rights and suffer persecution solely because of their faith. This persecution ranges from discrimination where Christians are treated as ‘second-class citizens’ with a poorer legal, social, educational and economic standing than those who profess the majority religion, through to extreme violence where Christians suffer imprisonment, torture and are often killed because they refuse to recant their Faith.
