London Walk - 16th October

A group of Emmanuel men met one Friday evening for the latest in the series of the successful Men's Events. The event centred on a walk around the lesser known parts of London's East End and in particular those areas where Jack the Ripper is reputed to have stalked his victims.

The walk was led by a representative of the London Walks organisation who was very knowledgeable about the subject. We met at Tower Hill, and joined a throng of about 30 others, and walked through some of the haunts, noting the blend of old and new in the buildings and other structures. From the Tower we went through Aldgate to the sound of Bow Bells, through more darkened alleys, Petticoat Lane market and eventually to Spitalfields where the walk ended. Avoiding any modern day Rippers, and drunks falling out of the local pubs, we made our way home via London Bridge.
