We need your votes to furnish the church hall!

We are appealing for votes to win £25,000 to furnish the new hall!

We’re asking for public votes to help win a OneFamily Community Award of £25,000 to purchase new furniture for the church hall.

Since before WW1 our hall site in Normanton Road has been used by the local community as a place to have fun and play sports. In 1939 a sports hall was built and it has now become a busy hub of local community life. About 4,000 people use it to meet and have fun together. In January 2018 an extended building is being reopened and winning this award would enable us to buy new furniture and replace equipment that is now worn out.

Votes opened at mid-day on 9th August, and we have less than a month to get as many votes as we can by mid-day 6th September 2017

OneFamily customers can nominate good causes to benefit from an award of up to £5,000, £10,000 or £25,000. All entries are then open to a public vote and the most popular projects win the funding. The Community Awards are part of the OneFamily Foundation which was created to give OneFamily customers the opportunity to support their local community and the good causes that matter to them and their families.

This year over 400 customers nominated projects to receive funding across the UK with the voting now open to members of the public until 6 September.

Emmanuel Church Hall has been successfully nominated to furnish the Church Hall so that it can be a multipurpose community space. The main sports hall, used by young people and sports teams, will double up as a dining room for the elderly and teaching space for women to learn English. The award will also furnish two new lounges so that more than one group at a time can use the Hall. Carers will have somewhere to sit and chat together and at the same time the second lounge can be used by the Croydon Churches floating shelter for homeless people in Croydon.

Guy French, Corporate and Customer Strategy Director at OneFamily, said: “The OneFamily Community Awards go right to the heart of what being part of a customer-owned business is all about, directly benefitting our customers and the causes closest to their hearts.

“Each year we give hundreds of thousands of pounds to fund projects, making a real difference to the good causes and those that benefit from them. A fantastic range of entries have been nominated this year and all of them are projects that our customers care passionately about. Anyone can vote and those that get the most will win, so I’d encourage everyone in Croydon to get involved.”

Eddie Whiston the OneFamily customer who nominated the project, said: “The Emmanuel Church Hall is a wonderful place to be involved with. It is staffed by hundreds of local volunteers who make everything possible, from Toddlers to Keep Fit for people who are retired. It’s an incredible community and we all love being part of it.”

Voting is open  until Wednesday 6 September, to vote visit
