Soul Survivor 2015

In late August, 28 young people and a bunch of amazing volunteers, descended into Shepton Mallet in Somerset for the annual Christian festival ‘Soul Survivor’.

For those of you reading this who have no idea what Soul Survivor is, it can be best described like this. Close to 10,000 young people and their leaders camping in a massive show ground, spending time in community – eating together; playing together; worshipping together; praying together; learning together, thinking about what it is to be living as a Christian, a person of faith, in today’s world; and pursuing God. It’s big, it’s loud, and this year it was very wet!

For many of the group it was their first time experiencing this, for others they had been before, and for me – well, it was my 13th time at Soul Survivor.

Each year I think about why we go, and whether or not we will go back again next year. Why we go – it’s so valuable for young people to see that there are thousands of other Christians just like them; it’s valuable for us to spend time together as a group; and it’s valuable to spend time worshipping, praying and learning together.

Those are my thoughts. Here are some from some of the young people…

And this is what the whole of our week looked like…

And are we going back next year…

…you bet we are! Contact Mike Rutt for more information
